We absolutely love it when a new virtual design client says they want to go bold! It’s so much fun for a designer to play with bold color, especially when the client is open to it. We’ve worked with this client before on their first nursery design, which was also very colorful, and they wanted the second nursery design to be equally as modern and exciting.

The client knew they wanted green or blue as the main bold color, but after some back and forth and sample renderings, they decided on green. The nursery was large and had plenty of natural light, so putting a bold paint color on the walls worked well. To help break it up and bring in a little more brightness, we used white blackout curtains and other white and light colored pieces.

Then there’s the ceiling! The client wanted both a bold wall color and wallpaper and couldn’t decide how to do both. We suggested putting the wallpaper on the ceiling, and it looks amazing. That also allowed us to use a bold patterned rug without it being too close to the ceiling pattern. While this pattern play might be to Maximalist for some, our client was thrilled and so are we!

The client also wanted to bring in lots of colors and textures for the furniture. The attached bathroom had black accents, so we brought in some black to coordinate with that. Then we used a gold crib to balance the gold in the ceiling wallpaper, and then included plenty of natural toned pieces like the wood dresser, storage bins and side table to flow with the natural wood flooring. Using these wood tones also helps to warm up the space.

The little details in this space go a long way, like the textured accent rug for coziness and the ottoman that has hidden storage inside. We absolutely love how this bold nursery design turned out and are so thrilled that the clients came to us a second time for their new baby.
