I hope you’re not sick of all the nursery design reveals lately—there certainly have been so many recently! We’re still catching up on all the photography and project completions from the last 2 years. So without further adieu, here is the latest nursery reveal!
Herringbone Wallpaper | Crib | Glider | Neutral Rug | Faux Sheepskin (similar) | Bench | Chandelier | Curtains | Rust Mudcloth Crib Sheet | Side Table | Elephant Lamp | Mustard Mudcloth Pillow | Large Floor Vase
This nursery was for a client in Orange County, CA, and they had a modern home with high ceilings and lots of natural light. That’s great news for an interior designer, but the high ceilings can present some challenges. My client wanted a bright and neutral nursery vibe, so we went with crisp white walls and a subtle Herringbone wallpaper. The wallpaper has small gray herringbone lines on it, which is modern, but not cold. We chose to do just an accent wall since the ceilings were so high.

The second issue with high ceilings is window treatments. It’s hard to find blackout curtains as it is (check out this post on all things blackout curtains), but with super high ceilings, they almost always have to be custom made. So we had some gorgeous custom blackout curtains made to fit the room exactly. We even went with a mixed metal hardware look! If you look closely, you can see that the grommets are black and the curtain rods are gold. Since the window frames and doors are near-black, we wanted to pull in just a touch of black elsewhere to tie that in.

My client wanted a light wood furniture look, but since the wallpaper had gray in it, we opted for a light wood crib and changing table that both also had a grayish tone. The nursery furniture also has modern and clean lines which work with the home, but are still warm and inviting. The more traditional style glider helps balance that, as well as the other more bohemian decor.

This nursery is all about texture. After the wallpaper and furniture set the foundation, we layered in tons of texture. The neutral rug has such a pretty fringe on it (and it’s actually soft!), and then we added an accent rug as well. The faux sheepskin is super soft and machine washable. We added a second ottoman, some mudcloth sheets and pillow, and lots of greenery.
I’m sure you’re wondering what the piece over the crib is! It’s actually a sweet story—the client had some dried florals like this made for her baby shower, and loved them so much that she wanted to save them to use in the nursery. We needed something larger though, so she had her florist create a big custom piece to go over the crib with colors that coordinated with the room. All the florals are dried so they will last. It came out so gorgeous!
