I’ve been wanting to start a blog series for a while about non-baby & child things. Like most humans, I have many interests aside from work that are still fun and worth sharing with you all. In addition to the 50ish hours per week I work on nurseries and children’s rooms, I also read, watch movies, google endlessly for the perfect white tee and try new recipes. For this series, I will be sharing some of these “grown-up” things with you!  If you want to know what’s been going on in the nursery and child world lately, check out the end of this post for a recap.

The Perfect V-Neck Tee:  Since I mentioned it above, I feel obligated to start with my favorite white t-shirt. I searched for a stupid amount of time to find the right one. I wanted it to be soft, light-weight, and flattering. I like to get straight to work in the morning, so I don’t like to spend a lot of time trying to figure out what to wear. Jeans, t-shirt, go. This is the v-neck shirt I wear most days. I have it in about 7 colors, and several in black. Oddly enough, I just threw out the white one because it was starting to get dingy. Time for a new one!

One of Those Books You Can’t Put Down:  A friend of mine just published his 3rd novel, She Died Famous, and I’m so excited to tell you about it! If you’ve ever had a friend write a book, there’s always that concern: What if it’s not good? Luckily, I was so blown away by this book and I gave him my honest opinion—the book was great and I didn’t want to put it down (which is a problem, because I read mostly at night to help me fall asleep). It’s a murder-mystery thriller about a Hollywood star, and goes places I definitely didn’t expect. It’s gritty, dark, sexy and suspenseful.

An Instagram Account Worth Following:  I’m a huge fan of eye candy, and Paul Fuentes is the king of eye candy. He’s a graphic designer, artist and photographer who creates super bright and fun imagery. I love following his Instagram account for a daily dose of pretty. Hi work is available online at really reasonable prices too! He also has a separate photography series that is just as gorgeous, and I’m dying to use one in a nursery design!

Zendaya, Jameela Jamil and Alex Borstein at the 2019 Emmys:  I didn’t even watch the Emmys this year, but I definitely clicked around on Instagram to see what everyone was wearing.  My favorite fashion moments were Zendaya in a hunter green stunner and Jameela Jamil in mint, but even those were overshadowed by Alex Borstein’s chill-inducing speech.  In case you don’t know, Alex Borstein plays a funny tough-girl/tomboy on the Amazon original The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.  Her acceptance speech for best supporting actress was absolutely elegant.  She was funny, she was serious, and she may have made the most inspirational speech I’ve seen all year.  Watch it.

What’s New with Nursery & Child?  You may have seen it already if you follow me on the blog or Instagram, but I published the first in a new blog series called Get The Look.  I get so many inquiries from people about certain nursery designs of mine, and I wanted to create some more accessible options for you.  Check out the first Get The Look nursery design for one of my all-time most popular nurseries:  Jessi Malay’s Floral Nursery.

I also wrote a post all about how to make the best use of space in a small nursery.  I get questions about this all the time.  Nurseries are often the smallest room in the house and need to be converted from an office, guest room, or even large closet.  Check out this post if you want some tips on how to design a small space nursery!

Lastly, there’s a fun new nursery design board inspired by Scandinavian decor.  This was such a fun one to design!  Check out the full post for all the sources and some nursery eye candy.
