Have you heard? Sage green is all the rage in nursery design right now. Green is my favorite color, and it’s been historically under-represented in nursery design. Mint green had a moment, especially in gender neutral nurseries, but sage green has been harder to find. Thanks to the many people showing more interest in the more moody greens, more sage green nursery decor has been becoming available!
This client wanted a nursery E-Design for her new baby in New York City. We’ve worked on a ton of New York nurseries, and they are always tough because of the small spaces and often awkward layouts. This nursery was no different, but we made it work!
Cloud Wallpaper | Light Wood White Crib | Boucle Nursery Glider | Boucle Ottoman | White Fluted Dresser | Gold & White Floor Lamp | Neutral Non-Toxic Rug | Neutral Woven Storage Basket | Round Wood Mirror | White & Gold Scones | Round Wood Side Table | Sage Throw Pillow | White & Gold Shelves | Letter Wall Art | Cloud Wall Hook
Our client wanted to a soft and relaxing feel to balance the modern look of her New York apartment. She loved light woods, neutrals and of course, sage green. She also wanted some texture and a touch of a cloud theme.
As you can see above, the nursery floor plan was a tricky one. With any small nursery, we always focus on the safest placement of the crib first, and then work everything else around it. In this nursery, the safest place for the crib was along the longer wall. We were still able to fit a glider and small dresser. The closet was built in already, so there was plenty of storage.
We started the design with an adorable sage green cloud wallpaper to go behind the crib. We then chose a light wood and white crib, a dresser with fluting detail, and a cozy boucle glider. The neutral rug is non-toxic and washable! We filled in the rest of the design with some sage green elements, like the throw pillow and green changing pad cover. The artwork over the crib also has a little sage green in it (and it’s framed with plexiglass, so it’s lightweight and won’t shatter).
