As a nursery designer, my job often leaks out from the nursery into other rooms. After all, the nursery is so closely related to other aspects of bringing a baby home, not just a pretty space. We talk to our clients about baby monitors, bassinets, where the baby will be for the first 3 months, managing changing the baby in other rooms, and so many other things! It’s important for us to keep up on not just nursery products, but other baby products as well. Here are the baby products we love the most and recommend to clients who are building their baby registry.
1. Your Perfect Nursery Book: Of course, I have to include my book! I wrote this book with all of our amazing clients in mind as they navigate the nursery design process. Not to brag, but this nursery how-to book makes a fantastic baby shower gift, and it can go on registries too. It’s full of design tips, safety guidelines, gorgeous photography and step-by-step actions.
2. Swan Baby Carrier: I’m a designer, so both form and function are important. But if something has both, it’s a slam dunk. This gorgeous baby wrap in tussah silk is suitable from newborn and beyond. We love the convenience of a baby carrier and it doesn’t hurt that it will look adorable hanging on a wall hook when not in use.
3. Drawer Dividers: Drawer dividers are a must-have for any dresser or changing table. They make it a breeze to keep your dresser organized with all those tiny clothes and accessories. These bamboo dividers have a pretty finish and are adjustable to fit your drawers (just make sure to measure the height!)
4. Wood Toy Stacker: We love this gorgeous heirloom quality wood stacker (and any toy that doubles as decor!) We included it in our blog about Our Favorite Etsy Finds for the Nursery as well. You can custom order these and choose the color palette, add a name, birth month, flower, or another personal sentiment.
5. Dark Green Diaper Bag: We love that green is having a moment in nursery design! This dark green diaper bag comes in a gorgeous, deep color and is made with a wipeable, vegan leather. It converts from a tote bag to a backpack style and it’s designed by small, mama-owned business.
6. Neutral Baby Play Gym: Activity and play gyms are often very bold and bright colors, which some clients don’t like. We love this neutral design because it will fit right in with a neutral home or nursery. You can always add lots of contrast with individual toys, blocks and books (that can easily get tossed in a bin for storage when you don’t want to look at them).
7. Sereniby Air Purifier: Air quality is so important in the nursery since it usually has the worst air quality in the home! I personally own this air purifier and love it. It has so many great features that are nursery and baby specific, like a waking light, adjustable height, and it’s all controlled by an app on your phone so you don’t even have to enter the nursery to turn it on or off.
8. Compostable Baby Wipes: These compostable baby wipes are EWG certified, hypoallergenic and plant based. Plus, they’re mostly water so there’s no harmful chemicals or fragrances. They come in this cute terrazzo print packages, so they will look cute on your changing dresser. Plus, you can choose from multiple packaging options so they coordinate with your nursery.
9. Breathable Crib Mattress: We’ve worked with hundreds of crib mattresses, and this one is a top favorite. It’s breathable, washable and GREENGUARD Gold certified. It’s also lightweight and easy to move which is a huge benefit when you need to change the sheets (which will be all the time).
10: Vegan Leather Caddy: We recommend a diaper caddy to every nursery client, even if they have a small space. They’re just so handy when you need to grab it quickly when there’s a changing need in another room. This one has such a sleek design so if it’s left out in the living room or other area, it will seamlessly blend in.
11. WiFi Baby Monitor: We’ve worked with all types of baby monitors, but our clients absolutely love the Nanit and request it over and over again. It has so many great features, including a floor stand which we almost always use because it allows for more flexibility. It’s also WiFi based, has a phone app and add-on breathing monitoring as well.
12: Mini Play Yard: This is one of the few travel cribs or play yards that is GREENGUARD Gold certified. It’s lightweight, has a compact design, and is approved for overnight sleep. We also love this collapsible play yard if you are looking for a neutral color tone.
