A few years ago, we designed a pink nature nursery for a client in Los Angeles. They had young toddler who needed a nursery, and they wanted to use lots of white, blush and gold. Well, four years later, they bought a new home in Orange County, and that toddler is now a little girl! We worked on a whole new room design for her with “big girl” furniture, and still kept the white, blush and gold details that the parents both love as well.

Of course, we started with the amazing Chinoiserie wallpaper! This pattern is so stunning in person, and it has all the elements our client was looking for—nature influence, blush details, white background. This is actually a mural, not traditional wallpaper, so it took some careful calculation to wrap it around the whole room.

To contrast the wallpaper, we decided on an upholstered bed in a soft blush velvet. The blush brings out all the colors in the wallpaper, and the velvet is an easy-to-clean fabric for kids.

As you can see, there is a lot of natural light in this space since the room has a window and balcony doors. There are custom roman shades with blackout lining, and then soft curtains on top for flexibility. The long drapery also brings a softness to the entire space.

Our client also wanted the space to feel natural with a few rattan and lighter wood elements. We chose an amazing white and rattan chandelier and a light wood bench that fits at the end of the bed. There is also a rattan planter in the corner (which you can’t see in the images above), and a rattan lamp on the nightstand. The mirror over the dresser also has a rattan finish, marrying everything together.

Details were so important in this space, and we wanted to make sure everything worked nicely. The original dresser comes with black knobs, so we switched those out for some in gold and acrylic. This room feels so light and airy even though it has such a large patterned wallpaper!
