We’re back for 2023 and already have a ton of nursery and kid’s E-Designs on the calendar! The one below is the first one completed this year. This client was moving into a new home and needed both a boy’s room design and a girl’s nursery design (you’ll get to see that one on the blog soon). We started with the boy’s room since he didn’t even have a bed. Our client wanted something with lots of blues and neutrals and a few little pops of navy. The back wall of this room has a high vaulted ceiling, so we added a gorgeous grasscloth wallpaper to highlight the space.

Neutral Coastal Boy

Rattan Side Table | Wood Floor Lamp | Blue Low Chair | Giraffe Stuffed Animal | White Blackout Curtains | Rope Knot Finials | Tan Round Chandelier | Diving Artwork | White Wood Bed | Blue Striped Pillow | Fringe Blue and White Blanket | Single Stripe Sheets | Navy Nightstand | Terrazzo Lamp | Woven Basket | Rope Table Lamp | Navy Tall Dresser | Gold Round Mirror | White Book Ledges | Brass Wall Hooks | Sailboat Artwork | Tufted Ivory Rug | Blue Grasscloth Wallpaper

We kept the bed, rug and curtains neutral so help break up the blue and flow with the rest of the house. There were two windows on the back wall as well, and we covered those with white blackout curtains to provide light protection. If you look closely, you can see that the curtain hardware has little rope textured finials!

We had a small wall for the dresser, and since the child is past the diaper years, we didn’t need a changing table. The taller dresser has more drawers and adds a more mature vibe to the room. We also added a slate blue chair in a different shade of blue for a layered look, and then pulled in some artwork that had all those same shades of blue with neutrals as well to tie it all together.

The client wanted her son’s room to feel beachy and a touch nautical, but without going crazy with the theme. We used little hints here and there, and made sure they can be easily changed out down the line (like the sailboat art prints).

To finish off the space, we added some natural elements like rattan in the side table, hamper and dresser lamp for even more texture and warmth. There are some wall ledges for books to be displayed, some wall hooks for a tiny bit of extra storage, and an adorable little navy nightstand as well. We love how this room came out and can’t wait to share his sister’s nursery E-Design with you soon!
